Secrets or are they!
Kara Thrace felt like a girl back in grade school. She had a secret admirer, but unlike grade school this was actually happening to her and not just something that she secretly longed for!
She had a few ideas who it might be, but that took the fun out of the secret part!
It had all started out with a simple poem of sorts written to her with the added bonus of a cigar, sitting waiting for her in the cockpit of her viper. It simply read:
STARBUCK, you can kick start my engines any day! …. Your Secret Admirer.
Ok it wasn't very romantic, but oh so juvenile! Kara could only laugh and think, how crazy is was and whoever wrote it was very lucky that they gave her only the best cigar and for that she would overlook the cheesy nature of the card! She folded the paper and placed it her pocket along with the coveted cigar.
Kara forgot about the cigar and note during her flight. She returned to her bunk exhausted and almost collapsed on her next gift from her secret admirer. It was a book,one of her favorites that she thought she would never see again. It was an action/drama and yes had a little romantic tension between the two lead pilots. At least there was no cheesy card with it! So she decided that she would enjoy the book along with her cigar. She opened it up… to find this written:
STARBUCK: you remind me of the feisty heroine in this book! I hope that like her, you allow the hero to capture your heart! Love your ever-willing hero!
Kara started to laugh and think, sure let the book do your dirty job of telling me how you feel. Kara by now had a strong feeling of who it might be. Could it be Lee?!
"Okay Apollo, two can play at this childhood game!" Kara chuckled to herself!
Kara no longer tired, decided to go through her treasures, some gained honestly and others from her winnings. She selected some of the candy and cufflinks that she won from a certain CAG, back when they were in the academy together. Now she had to write her invitation, because that was the next step in this game!
It read:
APOLLO: THE QUESTION IS CAN YOU KICK START MY ENGINES? ARE YOU MAN ENOUGH TO BE MY HERO… MEET ME AT THE BRIGS NOW … I AM YOUR WILLING PRISONER FOR ONLY A SHORT TIME! THE FIESTY HEROINE.
Kara knew that Lee was on the night shift, so she was able to place his gifts along with the invitation on his bed. Next she went down to the brigs and gave some more of her coveted treasures to the bored guards to allow her to use the unoccupied cell. She settled down to continue reading her book and went to sleep anticipating waking up with a kiss from her hero.
