I have ordered Tigh find candidates for a potential covert assignment. When he looks at my requirements he says, “Looking for a good time Husker?”

“I like my women with a little more mature,” I say with a chuckle.

“This request is going to raise eyebrows in administration,” he says.

Personnel files on crewmembers meeting the following requirements:

IQ in the 85 percentile or higher

Female

Age 23 to 33

5’4” to 5’8’’

Non-combat related assignment.

“Look up the word “covert” if you need to, but make sure you understand that discretion is necessary,” I say.

“Yes Sir,” Saul replies. He mills around my quarters, mulling over my orders, hoping I’ll confide.

“You old dagget, it’s for Lee.” He says with a huge grin.

“Saul, my son would never agree to see any woman I selected,” I reply.

“Oh let me see, the CAG’s 28 years old, five feet nine inches tall, and graduated third in his class at the academy. So if I was going to set him up I’d want a very bright female, say five years younger or older, average height but not taller than him. He probably already knows all the women in the Air group and CIC but won’t make a pass at any of them, because of fraternization issues. Yes, this is a good search. I’d remove the height requirement and up the intelligence requirement my self,” Saul says with a very self-satisfied smile. “Husker, it’s tough to tell but he may be smarter than you.”

“Oh he is, but I have experience, cunning and rank on my side,” I reply. I’m enjoying having Saul as a coconspirator. I’ll need his help later.

“OK take the height requirement out. We’re looking for the whole package.” I say letting Saul join me.

“Hey what about the usual preferences, hair, eyes, boobs, ass, legs?” Saul asks.

“Yes he likes all those things. He’s very discrete with his love life. According to his mother’s speculations and what his brother let slip. He’s attracted to bright women with great eyes, and great legs. They are usually slender, and long hair is a definite plus. Coloring, height and age don’t seem to be important.” I reply realizing that I don’t directly know anything about my son sex life. All I know is I don’t like the way his looking at Laura Roslin. If another option doesn’t turn up he’ll end up sleeping with her.

“Husker, how can we be sure that she’ll like him?” Saul asks.

“What? “ I ask.

“Well, he can come off a cold arrogant ass,” Saul says with a shrug. “And lots of women prefer tall, graying, brown eyed men like myself.” He continues, preening.

“OK, It might take more than one try,” I admit. “But how hard can it be to find a woman who will fall for a top viper pilot with blues eyes. He’s my son; he can be very charming when he puts his mind to it.”

“OK, I’m looking to recruit a spy. I’ll have White,” Saul Pauses.

“Captain Lacy White, the temporary head of administration, transferred in to handle the transition from act ship to decommissioned museum?" I ask.

“Bright perky little thing, no fraternization issues, slim, and gray eyes. Never had an opportunity to her check out up close,” Saul informs me. “Too bad her hairs short.”

“Yes, too bad. Captain White needs to provide the Air Group with extra support. With so few pilots the Air Group can’t possibly handle the paper work,” I say hopefully with a straight face. “Saul you have chat with the Captain. Just point out the facts. Pilots need to fly and stay rested enough to fight. Since the explosion there aren’t any resources to do the paper work. You can even tell her that the CAG is taking the tragedy hard. Order her to off load the paper work.” I say.

“It’s something she should be doing anyway. No way either of them should think we’re setting them up,” Saul says.

“We aren’t.” I say as I pick up my requirement list and put it through the shredder by my desk.
