It was a nightmare through Kara Thrace, a fraking nightmare. All of the this seemed so …unreal. How had she managed to get into it?
A week before all have been fine but since Colonial's days everything was spiraling slowly toward hell. First the confrontation with Lee, than to learn the truth about Earth and the man she considered more like her father than her commander. And the last, the mess with Boomer/Toaster.
She was tired Lords, so tired of all. Why had she do that? Coming back to Capricia to get the arrow seemed a good idea before but now… Her body ached from everywhere, her ribs, her arms, her jaw… And her knee was in a bad shape. She was physically exhausted and emotionally drained. After her outburst with Helo, he had moved her in a safe place where she could regained her sense and rest.
So here she was lying on a mattress with her gaze on the wall next to her trying with no success to find a way out a this huge mess. She was to empty to sleep and knowing a Cyclon was resting less than 3 meters from her was going on her nerves. Helo has assured her that Boomer/Toaster would not arm her but frankly after everything that has happened she was feeling a bit paranoid. Not that she had no reasons, after all those machines had practically destroyed her entire specie and were actually trying to finish the job with a sadistic pleasure.
Pregnant, that… that thing was pregnant. How could it be possible? Ok, she knew the how but the why was pretty important here. Why would a machine whose goal was to annihilate the humans specie want to carry an human child? Kara sensed some plan behind but she couldn't find it. Another important thing was how to report to the Galactica that they had a Cyclon spy aboard the ship? She had to warn them before something terrible happen. Yeah, like if they would believe her. She had taken a Cyclon's ship to go retrieve a mythological arrow from a planet occupied by the enemy and she had done so without any order. They were going to kill her if she come back. Or put her in a cell for the rest of her life. No way would she be forgiven even if she come back with that stupid arrow.
"If you go back to Caprica and bring me the arrow, it will show us the way". More easy to say than to do. Why President Roslin have asked her to do this? Why not Lee. He was her personal military adviser after all. But no, she had asker her. Why? Because it was crazy or because of the thing the Cyclon had tell her?
"You will find Kobol Kara. Birth place of us all. Kobol lead to Earth. This is my gift to you Kara" So they have found Kobol. It was frightening to know that the Cyclon had know what was going to happen. It was terrifying to believe that the machines know what the future was. "Our only chance to find Earth". "Your destiny have already been written. Each of us play a role." And by God she was going to play her. She was going to bring back that arrow even if she had to kill every fraking Cyclon on the planet to do her job. Even if she have to get herself killed in the process but she was going to give the arrow to the President. All of this will not be for nothing, all of this suffering, this pain. She was going to play and she was going to win, no matter what. Hell, her call name "Starbuck" was not her for nothing.
And when she will be back aboard Galactica, the Adama men and her will have a little talk. Because frankly she was tired of all the crap they were putting on her. First Lee and his beating on her and then his father and his lies. So ok she had sleep with the vice president of the colony but frak it was nothing but a one night stand. And it's was not like she and Lee was engaged. Frak, they wasn't even involved. She was tired of the little dance they have been dancing recently and she was going to get some answer even if she had to hit him again.
But first of all she had to find a way to get out of this planet. And she had to do it fast before all hell break lose.
