I never thought I would dread

What the future brings

The way life moves on

Changing everything

We started out as enemies

With different points of view

Who would ever guess

The changes fate put us through

It started with a secret

A myth, a hope, a dream

To save a race, build a future

That was our common theme

When did things start to change?

How did a friendship grow?

Working together can form a bond

That’s what all survivors know

Late nights spent working together

To find ways for people to survive

Meeting in the middle, finding common ground

To keep everyone alive

It all adds together

When fighting a deadly war

Troubles shared lead to empathy

And sometimes….something more

Neither of us ever imagined

The other would hold the key

To the friends and lovers

We have come to be

The road that we are travelling

Has become easier by far

Because we work together

To find the same distant star

It might have been wiser

To turn and walk away

To hide from feelings

That make you want to stay

But sometimes choices are made for us

The emotions are just too strong

So you take a chance, pay the price

And pray you not wrong

Maybe it would have been wiser

To have never let things start

To run from the pain

Deny the emotions and protect your heart

But then we would have never have known

A love as wonderful as this

W sharing things together

A smile, a joke, a kiss

We have no illusions

We know it cannot last

But not through lack of love

Like relationships in the past

She is the centre of my soul

The one who holds my heart

In this tiny moment of time

Before death tears us apart

I know I am going to loose her

Some things we cannot change

A life time spent together

Is the one thing out of range

We are not dreaming of the future

Nor living in the past

We live for the here and now

Making memories to last.
